Blowing Your Own Horn

For the past five years, we’ve helped dozens of companies, agencies and organizations tell their stories. The results can be measured in many ways – from headlines to bottom lines.

The external value is almost always greater audience awareness. But the overlooked internal benefit is a surer, shared sense of mission for the entire staff.

So last month, for our fifth anniversary, we turned our focus inward and asked the question, “What is our story?” We found the answer in two transformational transportation projects that we’ve worked to deliver – the Ohio River Bridges Project in the Louisville-Southern Indiana region and the Mountain Parkway Expansion in Eastern Kentucky.

We’ve gotten lots of positive feedback for helping build understanding, patience and support while engineers and construction workers build projects that improve quality of life and expand economic development.

We’ve decided those capabilities can help other states, cities and regions with their transportation advances. So we decided to blow our own horn a bit.

We turned to the extremely talented team at Kertis Creative. With writing and direction from our own Kerri Richardson and Mindy Peterson, the visual artists at Kertis quickly developed a powerful message to share with the transportation building community across America. But it also helped us better define our own mission.

“You build roads and bridges, we build understanding and support. You change landscapes. We change perspectives.”

That’s an important part of what we do. It’s our story.

What about your organization? What’s your story?
