Summary

C2 Strategic Communications, one of the region’s largest public relations firms, seeks a Senior Strategist to join our growing firm. Based in Louisville and with offices in Lexington, Ky. and Indianapolis, Ind., our 30-person firm serves clients and projects throughout Kentucky and Indiana.

The Senior Strategist primarily manages client accounts, develops communications strategies and ensures the quality of client deliverables by working with Associate and Staff Strategists as well as C2’s Creative Services and Management Team.

The Senior Strategist will lead multiple projects and key accounts as well as support training & development of staff and sales efforts.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Own client relationships, using exceptional organizational and relationship skills
  • Develop and implement communications plans, including objectives, strategies, tactics and budgets to meet client needs and reach target audiences
  • Identify key deliverables and manage the process and staffing to achieve them
  • Manage time and staff effectively and efficiently to stay on budget
  • Oversee creation and quality of deliverables such as news releases, newsletters, web content, speeches, talking points, presentations, marketing materials, social media posts, proposals, etc.
  • Plan media availabilities, news conferences, public meetings and professional conferences
  • Assist with business development: Track and manage business development opportunities, make direct pitches and presentations, build and maintain association relationships, etc.
  • Participate in annual strategic planning
  • Perform other duties as assigned

  • Strong written and oral communications skills
  • Ability to interact with and gain the trust of current and prospective clients
  • Ability to delegate, coordinate and collaborate within internal staff and external group structures (e.g., clients, vendors)
  • Ability to break down complex concepts and convey them simply and concisely to a target audience (e.g., media or general public)
  • Proactive problem solver, with the ability to think strategically and creatively
  • Attention to detail and accuracy
  • Adept at project management, multi-tasking and meeting deadlines
  • Adept at event planning, from news conferences to public meetings
  • Competent in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Outlook
  • Competent in multiple social-media platforms

Preferred Skills

  • Expertise and/or interest in government services, education, nonprofits, professional services and business-to-business services
  • Experience using Salesforce for customer relationship management
  • Experience using Cision or other media-monitoring service

  • A typical work week is 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Friday with a one-hour lunch
  • May work in Louisville, Lexington, or Indianapolis office, based on candidate location and preference
  • Reliable transportation is required
  • Night and weekend hours, and the occasional travel, may be required but are minimal
  • This position is full-time exempt and reports to Senior Director
