55,000 Degrees Executive Director Mary Gwen Wheeler explains why transportation is so important to academic success.

55,000 Degrees, one of our oldest clients, has been working for more than seven years to ensure that more Louisvillians earn a college degree.

Part of that work includes identifying and reducing the “trip wires” that knock people off the path to a degree.

For many students at Jefferson Community and Technical College, one such obstacle is transportation.

If a student doesn’t have reliable transportation to school, they often get behind in class and end up leaving school before they have completed their degree.

That’s why a recently announced partnership between TARC and JCTC is so important!
